The Academic Scholarship Committee provides support for any bright, hard-working, goal-oriented, practicing Jain youth in North America to be able to afford to attend an institution of higher learning where they can develop their skills and talents, and eventually make the community, country and world a better place. This committee has created the JAINA Academic Scholarship Program (JASP) which has provided numerous need-based scholarships for high school seniors in North America.
For any bright, hard-working, goal-oriented, practicing Jain youth in North America to be able to afford to attend an institution of higher learning where s/he can develop her/his skills and talents, and eventually make the community, country and world a better place.The JAINA Academic Scholarship program (JASP) will provide educational scholarships to high school seniors going into college who wish to pursue higher learning in the fields of arts, science, engineering and literature . At this time JAINA will not provide fellowships or loans. The scholarship award will be known as the need-based JAINA Academic Scholarship Award(JASP).Eligibility:-Be a practicing Jain, which includes vegetarianism-Demonstrate financial need -Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher-Be accepted to an accredited college/university in a degree program in North America for the fall term-Provide one academic reference letter-Provide one personal reference letter-Write a statement of purpose: an essay of 500 words explaining how the intended field of education will relate to personal, professional, academic, and/or spiritual goals. Applicant must also separately explain why they should be the one selected for this award-Must obtain a letter of recommendation from JAINA directors from your local Jain centerInitially, JAINA intends to provide ten (10) academic scholarships every year toward higher learning in the fields of science, engineering, arts or literature. The National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDPRB), through Dairy Management Inc. (DMI), annually awards up to eleven (11) $2,500 scholarships to eligible undergraduate students (sophomore through senior) enrolled in college/university programs that emphasize dairy. Majors include communications/public relations, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science, and Ag education. In addition, the NDPRB awards a $3,500 James H. Loper Jr. Memorial Scholarship to the outstanding scholarship recipient.
